The 11+ examination is one of the most important exams that a child will ever take.  For some children it represents the opportunity to gain a place at an academically-selective grammar school, which can represent a saving of as much as £175,000-£200,000 over seven years, as families are spared the expense of paying up to £26,000 per annum - or more - for a private education.

For other children, this may be the time when they take an entrance exam to gain a place at a fee-paying independent school.

Whatever the reason that your child is taking a school entrance exam, it is vital he or she be prepared thoroughly for the examination by a qualified teacher.  Not only must your child cover the required academic material, but s/he must also learn how to handle the examination & interview process successfully.

Having taken and succeeded in many exams in his academic career, Andrew takes great pleasure in the process of preparing children for all-round 11+ success.  Many of his pupils take the exams for both grammar and independent schools.

11+ Exam Academic Programme

Andrew offers lessons in all four academic streams of the 11+ exam:  English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning.  He uses a mixture of course materials, supplementing the well-established Oxford University Press Bond series with material from carefully-researched textbooks by leading mid-twentieth century scholars.

Please note that Andrew coaches for preparatory school 7+ and independent school 10+ and 13+ as well as 11+ entry.

Pupil H.R. from Goodmayes achieved 130/140 in the English exam for Queen Elizabeth Boys' School, placing him in the top 2% of candidates in that paper.

In previous years, Andrew has coached 11+ pupils in Richmond, Chiswick, Kingston-upon-Thames and Snaresbrook, in addition to his principal catchment areas of Ilford, Gant's Hill, Goodmayes and South Woodford.  Ages have ranged from 6-12, as Andrew has also coached children for the 6+ and 7+
prep school entrance exams; and for the Common Entrance 13+ Exam, where he prepared a candidate to sit the French paper.  These pupils aspired to schools such as King's College School, Wimbledon and St. Swithun's, Winchester, in addition to the grammar and independent schools mentioned above.

Andrew offers regular weekly or twice-weekly lessons over a period of time, complemented by intensive courses in the run-up to the exam.  He is available over the half-term breaks, when he runs an intensive course of lessons, as well as during the summer holidays for children taking their exams in September, in addition to term-times.
